Jim Kniffen's Dynamic Relative Performance System
Weekly Market Review: See what Jim is seeing
Each week, Jim provides a clear, disciplined view of actual market activity through the lens of his Dynamic Relative Performance System (DRPS) - a framework he developed to evaluate changing market conditions, trends, leadership, opportunity, risk and much more.
The Weekly Market Review offers a practical window into the process Jim uses in serving advisory clients.
Jim is one of the few advisors who openly shares his observations, reasoning and decision-making discipline behind his interpretation of the markets.
Not news. Not noise. Not predictions. Not ego.
Just a disciplined interpretation of what the market is actually doing.

Understanding the Dynamic Relative Performance System
Purpose-Driven Capital Allocation
The Dynamic Relative Performance System is built on a simple but often overlooked premise: Capital should be aligned with its purpose and invested in ways most capable of fulfilling that purpose.
Different goals require different solutions. Capital intended for spending in the next few years should often be managed differently than capital intended to compound for decades.
Dynamic Market Leadership
Investments that may be appropriate in one market environment may be less effective in another.
Markets are dynamic. Leadership changes. Risk conditions evolve. Asset classes, sectors, and investment styles move through periods of relative strength and relative weakness.
Yet many investors continue to rely on static allocation models that may do little to observe or respond to those changes.
Observation, not Prediction
DRPS was developed as a disciplined, evidence-based structure for identifying and evaluating changing market conditions.
Rather than beginning with predictions and forecasts, the process begins with observation.
Understandable and Insightful
DRPS facilitates a comparative view of different segments of the market across dynamically selected, relevant time frames.
It is designed to be understandable to the investor while providing meaningful insight for the experienced professional. This also helps with communication between advisor & client as well as between spouses.
A Curated Investment Universe
The structure is applied to a carefully selected universe of asset classes, sectors, industries, and investments to facilitate observation of market forces.
The objective is not to predict what markets will do next, rather to understand what markets are actually doing and what that may imply for investors moving forward.
Versatility
DRPS can be insightful and instructive in many applications.
Understanding important characteristics of distinct asset classes.
Understanding the impact of asset allocation decisions.
Identifying assets appropriate for short-term cash needs vs. long-term compounding to build wealth and legacy.
Selecting assets that are more or less volatile.
Evaluating current portfolios for idle or under-performing asset allocations.
Understanding 401(k) investment options
Seeing through opaque investments like Target Date Funds to identify lost opportunity cost.
Identifying market trends and reversals.
Comparing seemingly identical investments.
Evaluating the cost and benefit of active management versus passive management.
Please remember DRPS is presented for educational purposes only. No investment recommendations or advice are implied. Investment advisory services are only available by written agreement between the client and Wealthcare Advisory Partners.
